Founder and CEO, Cell Propulsion

Nakul Kukar is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cell Propulsion.

Cell Propulsion enables large-scale electrification of commercial vehicle fleets using connected, electric mobility technologies. The company is based out of Bengaluru and was established in the year 2016.

Nakul graduated from Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2011. He has experience working in the domain of launch vehicle and spacecraft propulsion. Prior to founding Cell Propulsion, he worked at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on their launch vehicle engines. Subsequently, he has led the design and development of lunar lander propulsion system, and the design & development of solar-powered electric aircraft.

While working on the electric aircraft project, Nakul and Paras Kaushal, Founder and COO, Cell Propulsion realized that there is a massive opportunity in India in the electrification of ground vehicles compared to aerial vehicles. Given that they had a good understanding of the technology and could put together an EV, they initiated this venture.

At Cell Propulsion, he is responsible for fund raise, investor interactions, business development and formulating overall strategy of the company.

Cell Propulsion is a mobility technology company based out of Bangalore, India. Founded by a team of former ISRO scientists, the company is focused on design and development of electric commercial vehicles (eCVs - eBuses and eTrucks). They deploy these vehicles as part of a fully managed solution to accelerate adoption of eCVs by logistics and transportation companies. They are also highly vertically integrated and have designed and developed their own proprietary vehicle powertrain technologies like Battery Management System(BMS), Battery Packs, Chargers, Telematics Module, Motor Controllers, and Motors.

Leveraging their hardware & software development expertise, the company integrates all critical attributes of connected, electric mobility under a single interface to provide economically viable, end-to-end connected electric mobility solutions.
