Thiru is the CEO of Center for Advanced Automotive Research established by IIT Madras. He is also the Lead, Government of Tamil Nadu's EV Task Force Thiru brings ~35 years of industry leadership experience in Advanced Technology and Manufacturing, including 14 years in the US, and much engagement with Chinese and SE Asian industry. Recent 8 years have been with the Light EV industry in India. Thiru assignments have been with 3M and Iomega in the Data Storage industry, with Rexnord in the Bearings industry, Tyco Healthcare, IMI plc in Liquid Food Dispensing and Merchandising Infra, AO Smith Water Heaters, Ather Energy and Ampere in Electric Vehicles, and ePropelled in Advanced Motors. He has been an advisor to IIT Madras on Industry engagement. He has a B.Tech from IIT-Madras, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University, USA. He has completed an Executive Management Program at IIM-Lucknow. He has been recognized with three US Patents and many awards. He enjoys mentoring technology companies, young engineers and students.
